Attorney Kathleen A. O’Malley focuses her practice of law at Raipher, P.C. on general civil litigation, concentrating in the areas of domestic relations, family law, guardianships, conservatorships and estates.

Since joining the firm, Attorney O’Malley has handled a variety of high conflict divorce, family law, and probate cases and has dealt with issues of jurisdiction and business valuation, as well as prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She also handles matters of consumer protection, contract disputes and business litigation.

Attorney O’Malley previously worked as a Staff Attorney for Western Massachusetts Legal Services (WMLS) where she was a zealous advocate for low income individuals in the greater Springfield area. As a member of the Family Law Unit, she represented clients in a variety of legal proceedings before the court and addressed challenging issues regarding domestic violence and abuse. Attorney O’Malley also has served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Probate and Family Court Department, working with the judges on a variety of family, probate and juvenile law topics.

Her extensive research and writing work ranged from divorce matters, paternity challenges and specific issues relative to the care and custody of children, such as the removal of minor children from the Commonwealth, step-parent visitation, as well as guardianships, will contests and estate administration. Additionally, Attorney O’Malley’s practice experience includes time that she spent with the Department of Children and Families where she interned in a variety of units within the Department including the legal and adoption units.

Attorney O’Malley makes every effort to ensure her clients remain informed of and involved in the legal process and are well-advised before making important decisions related to their case. She believes that investigation and preparation are important work for just results and quotes Galileo Galilei, “All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.”

Attorney O’Malley is a graduate of the Juris Doctor/Master of Social Work joint degree program between Western New England College of Law and Springfield College School of Social Work. She earned her B.A. in English and Sociology, magna cum laude, from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as the United States District Court of Massachusetts, and is a member of the Hampden County Bar Association. She has previously served as a board member for the Western Massachusetts Legal Services and currently serves on the Springfield College School of Social Work Advisory Board.

She is a co-chair of the Hampden Probate Bench Bar Committee and also serves as a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Family Law Section Council as well as the Hampden County Bar Association Probate and Family Court Bench Bar Committee.   She has been invited to speak on a variety of the family law topics for the MBA and MCLE, including the interplay between social media and evidence and impoundment procedure.
