More than 40 years of diverse legal experience

Attorney Irwin I. Weitz joined Raipher, P.C. in 2010, bringing with him more than 40 years of diverse legal experience including that of a senior partner in a well-respected Springfield firm. Prior to 2010, Attorney Weitz had been an associate and/or partner in the firms of Tillman Weitz & Tillman, Nasser, Hunter, Howes and Kalill, Weitz & Sclafani and Weitz & Weitz.

Attorney Weitz, at one point, primarily focused his practice on the areas of family and business law. More specifically, he predominantly handled business negotiations and acquisitions and civil litigation. Attorney Weitz has a wealth of experience handling diverse business acquisitions, which have required negotiations with lenders and state agencies and appearances before local state licensing and federal regulatory boards. He has also dealt extensively with the formation of various business entities, including both business and professional corporations, limited liability corporations, both limited and general partnerships and business trusts.

A wealth of experience handling diverse business acquisitions

Attorney Weitz continues to practice law in the areas of personal injury, real estate acquisitions, business negotiations and Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions. Having served as a court appointed mediator, he provides mediation services in all areas of the law where litigation of issues would otherwise take place, including, but not limited to, family law and business practices.

Attorney Weitz served as counsel to the condominium developer in the Town of Longmeadow, participating in Town Bylaw changes in order to facilitate the allowance of residential condominiums for the conversation of Converse Street Elementary School to Converse Street Condominiums. This was the first such project in the Town of Longmeadow. He also served as Counsel to Child & Family Services of Springfield, representing the agency in all areas of family law and adoptions.

Attorney Weitz received his law degree from the George Washington University Law Center in Washington, D.C. and his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from American International College. While at American International College, Attorney Weitz was elected to two national honor societies, to Who’s who in American Colleges and Universities and was president of Hillel. While in Washington, D.C., he worked for the United States Department of Commerce, Patent Office and United States Treasury Department, Division of Customs and Classifications, as a special assistant to the Deputy Commissioner. Attorney Weitz also served two years in the United States Army in their Special Forces unit at Seoul, Korea. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, the Hampden County Bar Association and Association of American Trial Lawyers.
